Three Ways In Which T-Shirt Screenprinting Has Advanced In The Last Decade

Posted on: 1 July 2021

When commercial screenprinting was just starting to gain momentum at the end of the 2000s, there were still quite a lot of kinks and quality assurance problems that needed to be sorted out. While it was a fun gimmick to get the name of your local club on a t-shirt or perhaps celebrate a birthday with a friends face on all of your clothes, there was a lot still to be desired from t-shirt screenprinting. Luckily, a lot of those issues have been resolved in the last few years, and now more than ever is a great time to get yourself a custom piece of clothing. Here are three ways in which t-shirt screenprinting has evolved.

More Precise Prints

The problem with older screenprinting was that you couldn't get that accurate portrayal of what you wanted. Corners would look fuzzy, colours would seep into each other, and it just looked quite amateurish. Nowadays, with far more advanced techniques and a decade more practice under their belts, screenprinting companies can get stunning colour transfers and very impressive picture quality with very high detail. If you want something that has intricate linework or a photorealistic image, then t-shirt screenprinting is now at that stage where this is possible.

Better-Quality Clothes

Another issue in the past was that the clothes used in screenprinting were of very mundane quality. The focus was on the novelty of the whole thing, not to create actual wearable items of clothing. That focus has shifted dramatically to where screenprinting companies use very nice items of clothing, from t-shirts to hoodies and even pants and accessories. If you want to feel good about wearing your custom items out and about, then you no longer have to worry about whether they look like cheap, thrifted clothing items.

Quick Turnaround

When you want something screenprinted, it is often more of a last-minute idea rather than something in the works for a long time. A spur-of-the-moment thought about how to elevate a party or event is how a lot of screenprinted escapades start, but in the past that was not that easy. The transfer and drying process is much quicker now, which allows you to often get same-day delivery, although if you do expedite your order, you may incur extra costs. However, even the standard length of time taken has shortened quite a lot, so as long as you have one or two weekdays before your event, you should get it in time.
